Matt Chandler
Matt Chandler serves as Director of Bands for Norman High School. He has taught in Norman Public Schools and Norman High School since 2018. In June of 2022 he was named Norman High School Director of Bands. He conducts the Marching Band, Jazz Band and Wind Ensemble at the High School as well as team teaches at Alcott and Irving Middle Schools.
Chandler is a 2004 Graduate of Westmoore High School in Oklahoma City. He received his Bachelor’s in Music Education from East Central University and a Master’s in Music Education with emphasis in Instrumental Conducting from the University of Oklahoma having studied under Allen Correll, Michael Hancock and William Wakefield. Mr. Chandler served as Drum Major for the Pride of Tigerland marching band for two years, ran the ECU Pep Band, and was a member of the ECU Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, Pep Band, Jazz Ensemble, Brass Ensemble and Percussion Ensemble.
After finishing his student teaching at Southmoore High School, he has taught at Sallisaw Public Schools for 3 years, Shawnee Public Schools for 6 years and Norman Public Schools.
Mr. Chandler serves his community on the Board of Directors of Jazz in June and is a member of Phi Beta Mu, OkMEA, OBA, CODA, OkJE, & NAfME professional organizations.

Jamie Shepherd
Jamie Shepherd serves as Assistant Director of Bands for Norman High School. She assists with the Marching Band, conducts the Symphonic Band at the High School as well as team teaching at Alcott and Irving Middle Schools. She has been a band director in Oklahoma for the past 10 years.
Ms. Shepherd is a 2006 Graduate of Moore High School in Moore. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumental Music Education from The University of Central Oklahoma and her Master’s Degree in Instrumental Music Education with an emphasis in Conducting from Wichita State University.
After finishing her student teaching at Southmoore High School and Brink Junior High, she began her teaching career in Bixby as an Assistant Band Director for 1 year. She then taught at Blanchard Public Schools as an Assistant Band Director for 4 years. In 2018, she started teaching at Lexington Public Schools for 5 years. Ms. Shepherd is a member of National Association for Music Education, Oklahoma Bandmasters Association, Oklahoma Music Educator’s Association, Central Oklahoma Directors Association, Oklahoma Educator’s Association, and Oklahoma Education Association.
Ms. Shepherd also enjoys spending time with her dog, Molly, spending time with her family, working out, and learning how to speak Spanish.

Andrew Orr
Andrew D. Orr, a native of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma has been serving Norman Public Schools since 2022, and has been teaching since 2010. He currently serves as Director of Bands at Alcott Middle School, as well as an Assistant Director at Norman High School. Mr. Orr also serves the District as a Percussion Specialist. In 2018, Mr. Orr was selected as a finalist for the Ponca City Public Schools Teacher of the Year, and was also selected as Teacher of the Year at Ponca City West Middle School the same year. Andrew Orr graduated from Westmoore High School in 2005, and in 2009 was an Alpha Chi Honor Graduate of East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma where he earned his Bachelor of Music Education with Academic Achievement. While at East Central, Mr. Orr was an active member of The Pride of Tigerland Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Band, University Chorale, and Percussion Ensembles. Mr. Orr is currently completing a Master’s Degree (M.Ed) in Educational Leadership, also at East Central University. Mr. Orr and family are no strangers to Norman, as his grandfather (Bill Haynes) served as Associate Minister at McFarlin Memorial United Methodist Church for many years.
Prior to his appointment at Norman, Mr. Orr served as Interim Director of Bands, Assistant Director of Bands, and Percussion Coordinator for the Ponca City Public Schools. He has also served the Duncan Public Schools as Assistant Director of Bands, and Percussion Coordinator; as well as Director of Bands at McLoud Public Schools, and Chandler Public Schools. Marching Bands, Concert Bands, and Percussion Ensembles under Mr. Orr’s direction have been consistent OSSAA award winners, and the Alcott Middle School, as well as the Ponca City West Middle School Concert Bands have earned the OSSAA Outstanding Achievement Award for Superior Ratings in both Concert and Sight Reading Performance on numerous occasions during his tenure as Director, which is the highest honor a Middle School Band can achieve in Oklahoma.
Mr. Orr is an active adjudicator and clinician in Oklahoma, and is on Faculty with the Southwestern Oklahoma State University Summer Music Camps. In addition to serving in the classroom, Andrew Orr serves as Director of Music at Western Oaks Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Orr resides in Oklahoma City with his wife Sarah Orr, a native of Rochester, NY, and home of the Eastman Wind Ensemble, who also serves Norman Public Schools as a Pre-K Music Teacher at Truman Primary, Cleveland Elementary, and Grace Norman; as well their sons, Andrew, Jr., and Adam. Mrs. Orr, a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan University in Rochester, NY, also maintains a successful Piano Studio in their home.

David Craig
David Craig is the incoming Director of Bands at Irving Middle School. He is also very excited to begin working as an assistant band director at Norman High School. Mr. Craig has previous teaching experience at Mid-Del Public Schools, Lexington Public Schools, Weatherford Public Schools, and most currently Yukon Public Schools.
Mr. Craig is a 1999 graduate of Altus High School. After high school, Mr. Craig attended the University of Oklahoma, graduating with a Bachelor of Music Education degree and he also has earned a Master of Education degree from Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
Mr. Craig has enjoyed working with students of a variety of ages and experience levels throughout his career. His bands have performed at regional, state, and national competitions and festivals. His students have earned OSSAA Outstanding Achievement Awards, Sweepstakes Awards, Academic Achievement Awards, as well as multiple superior ratings. His groups have also performed at BOA Music for All Festivals, as well as earning top six placement at the OBA state marching competition and placing as a finalist at the BOA St. Louis Super Regional Marching Competition.
Mr. Craig and his wife Genevieve live in Norman with their daughter Sam, a student at OU. They enjoy traveling in their spare time and have two amazing dogs Dolce and Sadie.
